Athithi Devo Bhava - The inclusivity Mantra
In India, we say Atithi Devo Bhava—The guest is a form of God.
It’s more than just a phrase. It’s a value we were raised with. Growing up, whenever someone came to our home—whether planned or unexpected—they were welcomed with a smile, offered a glass of water, and fed. Not just fed, but cooked for. With care. With joy. With love.
At Veranda Indian, we’ve carried that same spirit with us. We don’t see the people who walk through our doors as customers or patrons. We see them as guests—people we have the honour of hosting. And as hosts, we believe it’s our responsibility to make sure every guest feels seen, valued, and looked after.
That’s why inclusivity isn’t just a policy for us—it’s part of who we are.
Atithi Devo Bhava - The guest is a form of a god.
Dietary inclusivity isn’t a trend. It’s respect.
Food should bring people together, not leave them out.
From the beginning, we knew our menu had to reflect the diverse needs of our community. Whether you're:
Vegetarian or Vegan,
Gluten-free or coeliac,
Dairy-free,
Avoiding beef or only eat halal,
Or navigating allergies like nuts—
We've got you.
We’ve designed our menu so you can confidently eat with your loved ones, no matter what your dietary needs may be. We don’t treat it like an inconvenience—we treat it like an extension of hospitality. Because that’s what it is.
Our approach: thoughtful, not token.
We don’t believe in just “adding a vegan dish” or “removing the dairy.” We take the time to understand the ingredients, the process, and the flavour profile—so you’re not left with the short straw.
Whether it’s using plant-based butters and fresh coconut milk, or grinding spices separately to avoid cross-contamination, or keeping a whole section of our kitchen allergen-aware, we’ve taken the steps behind the scenes so you can enjoy your meal with peace of mind.
And we’re always learning. Guests teach us something new every week—and we listen.
Everyone deserves a seat at the table
When we opened Veranda, our goal was simple: to give people a place to explore the real India—not just through food, but through stories, memories, and warmth.
And the real India? It’s layered. Diverse. Full of contrasts and communities. Just like the people who dine with us.
Being inclusive isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about honouring the trust you place in us when you bring your family in for a meal. It’s about making sure no one has to sit out the celebration.
So whether you grew up eating dal chawal or you’re discovering Indian cuisine for the first time—there’s a place for you at our table.
